In 1981 the Baglietto Tardio family started up the EASO Student Residence on the top floor of a building in the Gran Vía of Madrid. The objective was to provide Spanish university students accommodation so that they could dedicate their time to their studies after the basic domestic matters had been solved and live in a friendly atmosphere, without paternalism, to encourage students' own freedom and sense of responsability. Given that it was so well received, a year after it was started up, the facilities were extended to the seventh floor of the same building.
At the same time, intensive Spanish courses were organized during summer, combining them with the same type of accommodation and immersing foreigners in Spanish language and culture.
As a result of the summer courses, EASO came into contact with foreign students and the need arose to increase the rooms available and to create a different type of accommodation to suit other cultures. Therefore, in 1993, the Student Residence in Callao was founded, where the accommodation type set up was flat sharing, but with the organisation of a Student Residence.
The success of this project led to the creation of the Residence located in the vicinity of the Puerta del Sol in 1998 and in January 2000, the one in Ópera. Recently, in december 2008, another two residences have been inaugurated, also located in the same building in Callao, this consolidating the current organisation of EASO's establishments.
Our current offer, which started off as a small family business and now has eight of its
own Residences in the centre of Madrid, is not just accommodation, but also almost thirty years of experience of enriching contact in our dealing with students from all over the World.
